Firefly Light Copper Agate Pendant

There are stones that hold light, and stones that reveal it.

This one reveals it.

Deep within the crackle surface of this hand-dyed agate, something stirs. A dragonfly caught mid-flight. An angel with open wings. The vision shifts with the light, with the angle, with the moment you're in. Marilyn saw it first, and once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

The copper wire weaving that cradles this stone was built around it, not imposed upon it. Every wrap, every coil, every turn of the wire was guided by the shape and energy of the agate itself. This is not a pendant with a stone in it. This is a stone that called for its vessel.

This piece began, as all Woven Light pieces do, with a stone that had something to say.

The agate sat in Marilyn's studio for a time, living alongside other materials, waiting. When the copper wire came to it, the weaving happened intuitively, wrap by wrap, until the stone was held exactly as it wanted to be held.

It was only when the piece was finished that the vision appeared in the lighter places of the stone: a dragonfly, or perhaps an angel, suspended in the pale crackle of the agate's surface. Neither was planned. Both were already there.

Every Woven Light piece is a collaboration between maker and material. This one is also a collaboration with whatever you believe in.
