Exploring Gemstones- The beginning of a long and slippery slope!

It all begins with an idea.

For me it began with my first large commission for an organizations gift to participants of their annual meeting! The order was for 60+ mala bead necklaces. I worked with the participants to customize these prayer/meditation beads to each individual. We began with a Custom Form exploring their differing zodiac signs, favourite colours, gemstones they were drawn to etc.

I worked along with these wonderful folks in putting together their malas. At each step of the way I sent layout boards with the beads I felt most respresented them.

Working with all of the high quality energetic stones, I developed an intuition and a connection with the participants I had not experienced in creating artistic jewellery for people. I felt connected to the energy of the stones and how they connected me to each individual I was designing for.

This led to an exploration of many different types and colours of stones and a curation of the best of the best in lapidary gemstone specialists.

I have assembled a VERY large collection of gemstones and they inform my pieces and how they are highlighted and honoured in my designs.

From there a foray into educational opportunities in all aspects of cold and forged jewellery techniques, among them, wire weaving, kumihimo braiding of wire, beading, silversmithing and of course, the making of the mala necklaces.

What follows will be an exploration of the gems and their metaphysical and physical properties and the many ways of working with the stone to create wearable art.

I invite you to follow me on my journey!

Local folks and visitors to my area are encourage to come visit me on the Victoria County Studio Tour in Bobcaygeon, The Tour de Forest Studio Tour in Haliburton, or at my home in Harcourt, ON. Appointments available by request and I also do distance meetings via email, text, telephone or socials.

I look forward to serving you!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
